It was 5 November of 2009 when I packed my things and travel to Alonissos. I had to pay for my fairs and food for the week that followed. The only thing the organization offered was a home and the experience of course.

I also took my bike with me to be Independent so I could navigate the area in my free time. There I met people that took me with them and saw me things and places further that I could see by myself. I thank them for that.

Except the experience of the little seal named Nefeli, I enjoyed being on an Island in the winter. It was something I would do again.

My job there, was to clean every day the center, help with the preparation of the food. I was not able to feed her. Even the experienced had difficulties some times. That was because you don’t throw her the food as you may imagine. The food was given pulped directly in her stomach through a tube. Two persons were needed for that. One purred slowly the food in the tube and the other person kept the seal and the tube stable till she swallows it all. Her food was a mix of oils, tuna, vitamins and other ingredients for her to grow healthy. The purpose of all that is for the seal to grow enough and get strong for her release day to come, were she would return to her home.
